A great par 5 starts the second nine. Guarded on the
entire left side and back by wet-lands, and a small pond and trees on the right,
accuracy is demanded off the tee. Long hitters can gamble to hit over water on
the second shot and go for the green, but if you’re short, the ball will find
the hazard. Layups on second shots leave a short, easy pitch to the green.

Wetlands on the left, trees on the right and a dogleg uphill identifies the
11th hole. Start with a center cut drive and you’re left with a medium to
long iron to Prairie Isle’s larg- est, 3-level green. Three- putting is
easily scored here.

The 12th hole is tight and tree-lined, with a rolling fairway that is
severely sloped from right to left You must hit a long drive placed on the
right side if you want to remain on the short grass. A good drive places you
approximately 150 yards from a green that runs downhill, back to front. The
12th hole may be the prettiest hole on the course, but also one of the
toughest!

Unlucky 13th? Not if your drive off the elevated tee is long and in the
fairway. Your second shot, using a medium iron, will look down at a large,
steeply downhill green. Try to keep below the hole when hitting to this
green.

Short and tight! A slight fade is required off the tee, out of the chutes,
to a narrow par 4. Well trap- ped, downhill and tight, this is a real birdie
hole if you’re in the fairway. Big hitters can try to drive the green!

A medium length par 3, the entire carry is over a rock-lined pond making
club selection very im- portant. You are hitting to a green that slopes
sharply right to left and back to front.

Number 16 is a slight dogleg left. Offline drives can be OB left or locked
in trees on the right. Big hitters must be aware of two ponds out 270 yards
on right center. You’re left with a short second shot to a narrow, but deep
green.

The last of Prairie Isle’s par 3’s looks down from an elevated tee. The
green is guarded by a pond on the right side. A severely sloped, downhill
green makes putting on this hole very tricky. Wind can be a lot of trouble
with your tee shots.

The home-hole is a double dogleg, long par 5, with OB right and tree-lined
left on the drive. (A kidney shaped trap is placed on the right fair- way to
catch the long hitters.) The second shot demands accuracy. The target is to
hit past a huge hickory tree at the dog-leg. corner. Your third shot is
uphill to an elevated green. Well-played shots can be rewarded with a
birdie.
